On July 12, 2024, art lovers gathered at Variations Thinktank and Creatives Hub for a fun and hands-on Basic Oil Pastel Workshop led by Julius Gonzales. Whether beginners or experienced artists, everyone got the chance to explore new techniques and bring their creativity to life.
The workshop started with blank sheets of paper and a lot of excitement in the air. Participants experimented with different strokes, blending methods, and color combinations. Smudged fingertips and bright pastel colors filled the room as everyone dived into their projects.
What We Learned
The session focused on essential skills to create stunning oil pastel artworks:
Color Mixing & Theory – Understanding how colors work together and how to blend them to create depth and harmony.
Blending Techniques – Mastering smooth transitions and shading for realistic effects.
Poster-Making Basics – Creating visually striking compositions with meaning and expression.
By the end of the workshop, everyone created colorful masterpieces, and every participant left with a deeper appreciation for oil pastels.
